The Pentel Colour Brush is a squeeze-controlled water-based brush pen built for expressive hand-lettering, comic layout drafting, and illustrative sketching. The defining feature is the flexible nylon brush tip — hand-assembled from shape-retaining filaments that hold a consistent form under extreme bending pressure, allowing line width to shift from razor-thin detail strokes to broad sweeping marks in a single continuous movement without shedding or fraying. Ink volume is controlled by squeezing the soft plastic reservoir barrel — light pressure for fine lines, more pressure for saturated coverage.

The dye-based water formula blends cleanly with water for wet-on-wet gradients, wash layers, and watercolor-style shading directly on the page. Available across a wide spectrum of 25 colors including blacks, greys, blues, greens, reds, pinks, purples, oranges, and yellows — all selectable via the dropdown menu.

Common Questions

Is the dye ink waterproof once dry? No. The dye-based formula remains water-reactive after drying — wet media applied over dry lines will reactivate and blend the color. For waterproof permanent line work that holds up under watercolor washes, the Pentel Colour Brush Pigment Pen is the appropriate choice.
Can colors be blended directly on the page? Yes. The water-based dye formula blends wet-on-wet on compatible paper surfaces — wet brush strokes over freshly applied color produce smooth gradients and wash transitions.
